GRATIELA

You can’t help being blessed and uplifted by the crystal clarity of Gratiela’s voice when she speaks or sings. Her dynamic Soprano-lyric four-octave range translates her love for God into gospel and pop/classical music that ministers to your spirit.

Born in the village of Vilcanesti, Romania, Gratiela’s path to success has been one of determination, and faith. From a young age, her musical family encouraged Gratiela to nurture her rare and exceptional talent. At sixteen, she attended the “Scoala Populara de Arta” (School of Popular Arts) in Romania. Achieving the highest marks possible on her exams, Gratiela received her diploma in soprano-lyric classical training.

In 1993 Gratiela moved across the ocean to British Columbia, Canada where she married her true love, Tim, who taught her to speak English, and assisted in establishing her musical career. Within three months of immigrating, Gratiela celebrated her first Canadian Christmas by singing with church choirs and presenting solos in English and Romanian.

In 1995, before the birth of her daughter, Gratiela recorded her first Christian album “Gratiela – It is Well”. For the following six years Gratiela performed in numerous venues throughout western Canada, while being based out of Saskatchewan. Gratiela was selected by the Arts Council of Saskatchewan to open for several concerts in 2000. She performed for Telemiracle, and made appearances with the local mayor. As well, Gratiela had seven independent concerts with over two hundred enthusiastic listeners attending each show. These are moments where Gratiela shines like a light in the darkness using the beauty of her voice to share the love of God.

2000 saw the Pachmann family moving to Toronto to pursue Gratiela’s music career at a higher level. Soon after arriving, she became involved with an opera choir, and sang for all the Premiers of Canada, and members of the Italian consulate, at a concert in Toronto. As a soprano soloist, Gratiela traveled with the choir to Rome, Italy, for a two-week concert tour celebrating the centennial of the music of Verdi at venues in and around Rome. Among the solos she performed on this tour were “Brindisi” from La Traviata by Verdi, “Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves” from Nabucco by Verdi, “O Mio Babbino Caro”, and “Alleluia” by Mozart.

In 2003 Gratiela produced her second and third gospel albums – In the Garden and Under His Wings, and a Romanian Christmas album Traditional Carols, Colinde Tradionale with Acrobat Music Inc. in Ontario. Her recordings are accompanied by breathtaking orchestration arranged by the acclaimed Marco Girgenti.

In the summer of 2004, Gratiela spent three months touring six European countries, including Spain, France, Germany, Austria and Italy. At her last concert in Bologna, the conductor of Andrea Bocelli’s orchestra, who was in the audience, requested for her to sing “Alleluia” by Mozart. The tour also took Gratiela back to Romania, her native country.

In September of 2004, she was asked to open the Maja Gospel Music Awards in Toronto, when her version of “The Lords Prayer” was chosen to be the anthem of the annual event. For the last five years, Gratiela has opened the award ceremony with this beautiful song. At the 2004 red carpet event, Gratiela was honored with the “Best Classical Recording” award for her album, In the Garden.

Now, in the Fall of 2008, Gratiela is back in British Columbia, and working on a new album. This one is of crossover pop classical music - including such songs as “Time to Say Goodbye”, “My Heart Will Go On” and “I Will Always Love You” - all sung in a classical voice. Included on the album will be seven original classical pieces, which were written and arranged exclusively for her voice, by arranger-composer Marco Girgenti. As well as the new album, Gratiela is working on the soloist role in Mozarts Requiem, which she will be performing in the spring of 2009.

Although Gratiela embodies the strengths and vocal qualities of her musical inspirations – Sarah Brightman, Celine Dion, Barbara Streisand, Nana Mouskouri and Charlotte Church – she uses her voice to communicate to God through worship. “My songs are my prayers” Gratiela quotes. “People have said that after my concerts their hearts were changed, and they had a new perspective on life. Knowing that, I wish to continue to worship God and share my gift with others.”

Fans describe Gratiela’s voice as magnificent, angelic, “the singing birds of Jerusalem”, “a blessing to the nation of Romania and the world”. The purity of Gratiela’s voice and her magnetic stage presence offer a brilliant performance of rising stardom you won’t want to miss!
